The challenge

Designers spend an evening with each couple, walking through layouts, worktops and appliances. The details that win the order, such as budget, timing and who decides, lived in notebooks and memory. Follow-ups left days later, managers heard about consultations second-hand, and every showroom sold in its own way.

What they do with Drummer

  1. 1Designers record each consultation with the Drummer phone app, which keeps recording with the screen locked and uploads later if the showroom connection drops.
  2. 2Every conversation is scored against the group's own showroom scorecard, with the reasoning and the timestamp behind each criterion.
  3. 3The designer's AI twin drafts the follow-up email with the design summary in the couple's language, ready to approve with one click.
  4. 4Managers pin comments to moments in the conversation and use the rep overview to see which showroom needs coaching on what.

What did a consultation look like before?

A good kitchen sale is won in the showroom, over a table covered in samples. A couple comes in on a Tuesday evening after work. Over the next stretch of the evening the designer learns how they cook, who hates the current layout, what the budget really is and when the builder needs the plans. Most of that never made it onto paper.

The designer scribbled notes between sketches, typed them up the next morning if the day allowed it, and wrote the follow-up when the quote was ready. By then the couple had visited other showrooms. Managers saw the quote, never the conversation, and coaching meant sitting in on the odd consultation when the planning allowed it.

How does Drummer fit into a showroom evening?

The designer puts a phone on the table, asks the couple whether the conversation may be recorded, and taps record in the Drummer phone app. Nothing else changes about the evening. The app keeps recording with the screen locked, pauses when the designer takes a call and picks up again afterwards.

By the time the couple reaches the car park, the conversation is transcribed and summarised. The designer’s AI twin has drafted the follow-up: the layout they chose, the worktop and appliances they liked, the open questions and the next appointment, written in the language they spoke. The designer reads it, adjusts a line and approves it. It leaves from their own mailbox that evening, not on Friday.

How do managers coach now?

Each consultation is scored against a scorecard the group wrote itself: did the designer ask about the budget, find out who makes the final decision, agree on a next step. Every criterion comes with the reasoning and the timestamp that shows it, so a manager can jump to the moment that matters instead of listening to the whole evening.

On Monday morning the regional manager opens the coaching view, picks a few consultations and leaves comments on specific moments: a strong way of handling the price question in one showroom, a missed decision-maker in another. The designers reply in the same thread. The rep overview shows which criteria each showroom tends to skip, so the monthly sales meeting starts from patterns rather than impressions.

What changed for the group?

Designers win back 1 full day every week that used to go to notes and follow-up mails. Couples get their design summary while the evening is still fresh. And for the first time the group sees how its showrooms actually sell, which turned a handful of strong designers into the standard everyone works towards.

What changed

  • The follow-up with the design summary goes out the same day, not at the end of the week.
  • Designers win back 1 full day every week they used to spend writing up consultations.
  • Managers coach from real conversations instead of second-hand reports.
  • Every showroom works from the same scorecard, so a strong consultation means the same thing in every location.
